Massage like other alternative health opportunities is planned between the therapist and the client. Looking at tasks of daily living and working within time and budget constraints,
I will lay out a plan that works for you.
The following breakdown of massage techniques offers you an idea of what you might expect
in your integrated massage. Keep in mind that this is only a glimpse. A detailed explanation will be given at the time of your session.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massages include long, relaxing strokes to warm and soothe stress away.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massages help to eliminate the knots and regain
smoothness of the muscle fiber. They release a lot of trigger points
and eliminate pain. This massage is best suited for athletes, people
who do repetitive work, and people who are regularly in high stress
situations.
Range of Motion and Stretching
Range of motion and stretching is done on all clients to check for restricted movement before, during and at the end of the massage. This technique is a guide to show where there might be
restricted movement. Isometric stretches help the range of motion on
the spot in many cases.
Abdominal Massage
Abdominal massages open the abdominal cavity and release the fascia
so the organs can lay unrestricted in their natural positions in the
abdominal cavity. It's good for people with IBS, Crone's and
Ulcerative Colitis, Spastic colons, acid reflux, constipation, and
those recently released from surgery. It is also good for lower back
pain and opens up the pelvic floor. See my
essay about Abdominal Massage for more information.
CranioSacral Therapy
Few systems have as much impact on the human body as the craniosacral system. It protects and nourishes the brain and spinal cord - and affects nearly every aspect of central nervous system performance. That's why CranioSacral Therapy is so critical to your healthcare practice. Developed after years of university research and testing, it allows you to release fascial restrictions anywhere on the body that may be impinging the craniosacral system and every other system it interacts with. In this workshop you'll learn gentle techniques to normalize the craniosacral system and allow the body to self-correct. By unraveling pain and dysfunction at the source, you'll naturally help eliminate stress, strengthen resistance to disease, and enhance health in every dimension.
Intracranial Massage
Intracranial massages are good for people with TMJ, who grind their
teeth, have sinus infections, headaches, and neck and upper shoulder
stress. See my essay about Intracranial
Massage for more information.
Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient Eastern energy practice that recognizes many centers of energy that refer to the entire body. Many people are familiar with FOOT reflexology, however there are other centers in the hands, ears, mouth, belly, around the eye and even inside the mouth. The Reflexology that I subscribe to integrates 4 theories to address actual structural balance, stimulates nerve endings, unblocks restricted energy flow and finally helps to balance the meridians of the body. You may choose a session of Reflexology or have it integrated with your regular massage.
Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that precedes written history by about 600 years. It is based on the very primitive instinct of humanity to soothe one another. An example of this hands on work is similar to a mother placing her hand on her child's injury, or “kissing” the booboo. It is similar to Healing Touch or the Christian practice of laying on of hands. To do Reiki, the practitioner does take classes and earns certification. For massage clients, Reiki is a part of all massage sessions and is usually felt specifically toward the end of the massage as the session is winding down. You may wish to have this hands on energy work done
separately without massage. Sessions last one hour and are billed at the same rate as a regular integrated massage. Clients choosing Reiki only, need not disrobe for the session.
Home Service
I also have a unique mobile service for my clients. I will come to your home.
I do work on clients with multiple challenges, such as paralyzation, CP, polio, and debilitating diseases that will not allow for my clients to travel to my office.
Part of my home service is dedicated to couples who just want a massage at home. Perhaps a celebration of a birthday, anniversary, or just the end of a long week.
Pregnancy massages are available
upon request. Please contact me for details or questions.
In-home services need to be scheduled in advance for best availability.
Pricing
One integrated massage session is $65/hour and $95/90 minutes.
Home services cost an additional $30. Packages reducing the cost for the frequent client or multiple family
use are available upon request, and discounts are given to senior citizens and students.
For all services, tips are accepted, but not expected.
